Alligator Far From Home

Urban legends tell of alligators in New York City sewers. But what about in a Staten Island stream? A man spotted a 4-foot, 5-inch alligator Wednesday afternoon while walking with his daughter through Historic Richmondtown, a reconstructed village of old farm buildings nestled deep in Staten Island.

Floods threaten endangered rhino in eastern India

Kaziranga is home to about 1,500 one-horned rhinoceros, a highly endangered species found only in some pockets of Assam, Bhutan and Nepal. The total world population of one-horned rhino is estimated at little more than 2,000. "We have been regulating the speed of all vehicles as animals might try and cross the highway to escape the floods," said park ranger Bidyut Barthakur.

Two-Headed Turtle Found in Indiana

Charles Newby, 7, found a pint-sized painted turtle that has two heads.A biologist in Indiana says that it is unusual, but she was not surprised. The biologist stated that these things do happen.
